  • Line your air fryer basket with a baking sheet. I used silver foil, but would not recommend it and prefer baking sheet anytime.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How long to cook chips in an air fryer?

It took me 20 minutes to air fry these chips at at 190°C (374°F) after pre-heating the air fryer. It could take a few minutes more or less depending on your air fryer. I reckon you check again at 18 minutes.

Some prefer air frying at 200°C (392°F), but I feel these make the potatoes cook from the outside too quickly giving it a darker look. I prefer these be air fried anywhere from 180°C (356°F) to 190°C (374°F).

If you’re using store bought frozen chips or fries, these should be done in 10 minutes or check instructions on the pack.

Do air fryers make good chips?

Undoubtedly yes! Air Fryers make amazing home made chips. Simply add some oil and seasonings if desired and you’ll be surprised how well they turn out!

Can I make crispy chips in an air fryer?

Cornflour / Cornstarch is the key ingredient to making crispy chips. Sprinkle some cornflour and rub it well to evenly coat the chips. Another tip would be to leave on the potato skin as these get crispier when air fried.

What seasonings can I use to make homemade air fryer chips?

I have added some garlic powder, cajun and smoked paprika for that extra kick!! But sprinkling some salt and pepper should be absolutely alright if you are short on other seasonings.
