What is Elaichi Coffee?

Elaichi Coffee | Cardamom Coffee is one coffee I’ve been having since my childhood days. I was not much of a tea lover when I was young, so I remember my mum making this amazing coffee for us specially to keep us wide awake during our exam times. I used to call it Chaagg (and not Jhaag for some reason) Wali Elaichi Coffee which is Frothy Cardamom Coffee.

This coffee is perfect to enjoy the monsoon and it’s so refreshing and so easy to make. There are two ways to make this, one is instant and other being boiling the milk, both have been penned down below. I can sip on to this coffee at anytime and can proudly say ” I’m still sipping on my Chaagg Wali Elaichi Coffee, While everyone’s fascinated about Dalgona Coffee!! Try it and Enjoy your Evening!!

Elaichi Coffee Recipe

  • 2 cups of full fat milk
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder or 2 – 3 whole green cardamom
  • 1 tbsp coffee powder (brand of choice)
  • 2 tbsp sugar or per taste
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk (optional)

Method 1

  • Add milk to a pan and bring it to boil, add cardamom powder or whole green cardamom to this.
  • In 2 cups, add equal portions of coffee, sugar and 1 tsp of evaporated milk to each cup.
  • Keep stirring till it gets nice and frothy and gets lighter in colour. This will take around 3 minutes each.
  • To this add remaining evaporated milk and add the boiled milk stirring continuously and serve hot.

Method 2 for Instant Coffee

  • In 2 cups, add equal portions of coffee, sugar, cardamom powder and 1 tsp of evaporated milk to each cup.
  • Keep stirring till it gets nice and frothy and gets lighter in colour. This will take around 3 minutes each.
  • To this add remaining evaporated milk and add milk. Give it a stir and microwave it for 90 seconds and serve hot.
  • Your perfect Chaagg Wali Elaichi Coffee is ready to serve and enjoy your evening.

Please note:

  • In the first method, you can use the boiled milk with Cardamom even for tea and/or any dessert you prepare.
  • 2nd method calls for micro waving the coffee, so using cardamom powder is a better option and keep an eye to avoid it spilling out as all microwave settings are different.
  • Feel free to adjust quantity of coffee and sugar per your taste.
